Belmond Mount Nelson

Welcome to Cape Town's most iconic hotel, a sophisticated and stylish haven of good taste that first opened its doors back 1899. Mount Nelson's understated colonial style and exquisite gardens lend the hotel a real old world elegance, but this is no museum; the luxurious accommodation, downtown location, and innovative cuisine mean this is still the place to stay in Cape Town.

Airport Transfer

A 20-minute drive from Cape Town airport.

Location

At the foot of Table Mountain in central Cape Town, just 15 minutes from the V&A Waterfront.

Accommodation

The 198 rooms and suites, spread across seven wings, are decorated in an understated and elegant style. All have a marble bathroom, flat screen TV, WiFi and open-plan bedroom and sitting area, and some also have a balcony. Junior Suites are more spacious and include an iPod docking station, while Studio Suites are bigger still and offer a combined bedroom and lounge area; Deluxe Studio Suites are perfect for families as they sleep up to four persons. For a separate living room, upgrade to a One Bedroom Suite, where the second room can be turned into a bedroom for kids. Interconnecting rooms are also available. The lavish Presidential Suite has a separate dining area, large living room, balcony with sun loungers, kitchenette, stylish 1930s baccarat crystal light fittings and an original desk from 1899, the year the hotel opened. The Garden Cottage Suites are housed within a row of restored cottages near The Cottage Pool, and each have their own rose garden enclosed by a picket fence, making them perfect for couples and honeymooners.

Restaurants And Bars

The food at Planet Restaurant is out of this world, with a mouthwatering menu of international dishes drawing on local and seasonal produce, while Oasis Bistro is open for buffet breakfast and lunch, with a sunny al fresco terrace overlooking the gardens and The Oasis Pool. The cosy Planet Bar is a stylish venue for pre- or post-dinner drinks, serving up cocktails, Champagne, fine wines and canapés. Don’t miss the opportunity to try one of the best afternoon teas in the city, with treats including a traditional South African ‘melktert’ (milk tart) and the signature Mount Nelson tea which has been expertly blended from six different teas, including rose petals from the hotel’s garden.
